'Unguarded: No one escapes from love'

Tuesday, 12 April, 2022, via Zoom, 9 pm

A group of friends would like to invite you to the screening of the film 'Unguarded: No one Escapes From Love' which will be presented in-person by our friend and director of the film, Simonetta D’Italia-Wiener.

This movie takes us inside the walls of APAC, the revolutionary Brazilian prison system created by Dr Mario Ottoboni, centred on the full recovery and rehabilitation of the person. The last words of APAC's founder, who died in 2019, were ‘Everything will pass. Except the love that overcomes time’. These words are very relevant for what the world is facing today: how to love and forgive in order to restore peace.

Simonetta D’Italia-Wiener is a long-time educator with degrees in both law and history. Now a professor at Brooklin’s St Francis College. Her previous work, Oxaca-set documentary ‘The Awakened Heart’, won numerous awards, including a top prize at Mexico’s International Film Festival.
Her current movie ‘Unguarded’ has been selected for other very prestigious awards like Venice Shorts 2020, Chicago Indie Film Awards 2020, European Cinematography awards 2021, ARFF Berlin 2020, was semi-finalist at Lasa International Film Festival 2021 and many others.

The event will be also an occasion to collect donations for the initiatives carried out by AVSI since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine: https://www.avsi.org/en/news/2022/02/28/ukraine-emergency-helpukraine/2502/
